Hi there, my name is Helena Pauko. My journey with cats started 12 years ago when I was in my early 20s.
It all began unexpectedly when I rescued three tiny kittens, only three days old, who had lost their mother.
These helpless little creatures needed someone to step up, so I became their “mom,” bottle-feeding and nurturing them around the clock. I named the boys Koki and Oli, while the girl became Olive.
As they grew, my home turned into a chaotic playground, filled with the antics of three mischievous kittens.
I tried every bit of advice I could find to manage their energy, but ultimately, I found new homes for Koki and Oli, choosing to keep Olive with me.
I thought that was the end of my cat challenges, but I was wrong. Olive, full of spirit and mischief, proved to be quite the handful!
Shredded furniture and sleepless nights became my new normal, and nothing seemed to work. That was when I decided to delve deeper into understanding feline behavior.
Early in my career I volunteered at the local Animal Shelter, helping with various duties from giving medication and preparing animals for procedures, to cleaning and bathing cats. I even assisted in surgeries, such as spaying and neutering, and focused on creating a low-stress environment for the cats during vet visits. My work with the lead veterinarians, and my lectures on kitten socialization and cat care further enriched my understanding.
I have really done and seen it all.
After my experiences with Olive, I immersed myself in learning everything I could about cats. In past 12 years I have earned certifications from Fear Free Shelters and became a Fear Free Graduate, worked as an assistant at a cat consulting service, earned a certification as a cat sitter and have provided in-home cat care for more than 2000 cat parents. I am actively participating in international cat congresses, where I offer lectures and learn from expert veterinarians in the field of felinology.
Over the last 3 years, I poured all of my knowledge into dozens of online cat parenting courses (on getting along with your cats, problematic cat behavior, raising a cat,…), e-books, products, challenges and specific programs that helped over 1,000 cat parents all over the world raise happy and successful cats.
I’m not a supporter of the theory that’s impossible to use in practice. I advocate healthy common sense and practical methods and procedures that are efficient in use.
Understanding Your Cat
After years of studying and volunteering, I pursued a Master’s degree in Human-Animal Interactions and obtained various certifications. Over the past decade, I’ve worked directly with more than 3,400 cats and their owners, conducting training and therapy sessions. Through these experiences, I developed a comprehensive approach to managing cat behavior, combining practical exercises, expert tips, and the latest research.
